There's no such thing as impossible unless you believe in limitations! As humans we are capable of so many wonderful things. I admit I wasn't always open to such optimistic thinking, I had even thought it was silly or child-like to "follow your dreams"! My limited perspective is obviously much different now that I am not only following my dreams but I am living them! How refreshing!! My desire to reach and live my wildest dreams has been further inspired by one of the great minds of the Late Gothic, Early Renaissance era: Filippo Brunelleschi, the master mind responsible for the creation and construction of the Florence Cathedral Dome (Florence, Italy)!! Brunelleschi silenced critics and naysayers simply by acting on his thoughts! We should all take note of how important an achievement like this is and appreciate the greater message behind it and that simply is : Thoughts become Things!!!
"Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions." Albert Einstein
P.S . Be sure to google Filippo Brunelleschi/ Dome of Florence Cathedral, trust me you will be inspired!!!

Knitty-Gritty
I've had some time to think and rethink the direction of my blog since my last post. When I began this blog I wanted to share my unique perspective concerning fashion, style and glamour while at the same time giving insight into my journey towards my career in the wonderful, ever evolving world of FASHION! Looking over my posts I feel that my blog has transformed into something foreign and isn't a reflection of my original plan. The name of my blog may be somewhat the cause for this detour but let me clear the air concerning my chosen title: I have a strong interest in all things, vintage and nostalgic! I love the look of pin up models, Warhol's pop art and history (of all kinds) really excites me!!
I intend to post information about events I have worked, new things I have learned (particularly in my Art History course) local events of interest (Atlanta area) etc; My blog from here on out will hopefully serve as a didactic tool for young hopefuls like myself who are eager to leave their mark not only in/on fashion but our World!!!
To my readers and any curious newcomers : Welcome, STAY a while and find yourself a little more learned, sophisticated and inspired!!

Heavens to BETSEY!!
My apologies to my readers for the lack of activity on this blog...things have been bonkers but the 'storm' has seemed to pass so now we may continue with our regularly scheduled program!!
This is just a quick post to pay homage to the wonderfully creative Betsey Johnson! Recently I've found myself doing quite a bit of shopping and happened to stumble upon Betsey's store and boy oh boy was I thrilled!!! As I walked into this tiny store tucked behind a giant indoor water fountain and onto that black and white checkered floor it was as if I had fallen into Betsey's world...aaaaahhhh I could live in that moment forever!!! So after looking through all those pretty, colorful, frilly dresses I managed to find the perfect LBD, and then my emotions went from happiness to sheer excitement when the sales associate placed my very own Betsey Johnson LBD in that fabulous glossy pink bag with satin handles!!! I was so in love with my BJ experience that I made it a priority to stop by again almost a week or two later, and found the perfect summer tunic!!!
*Please note that I haven't worn the LBD as of yet but will post pics when the time comes*

Girl Talk with Mz. Berry!!!
If you think sophistication, you think Mz. Berry! This beautiful New Jersey native brought a breath of fresh air to reality television by remaining classy and graceful all the way to the end on the second season of VH1's hit show 'For the Love of Ray J'. I was able to catch up with Mz. Berry for a little chit-chat:
MVH: How would you describe your style?
Mz. Berry: I would say my style is pretty classic. I like trendy (pieces) but only in small doses. I love fashion and design of all types! Really for me my style is influenced by fashion not so much trends.
MVH: What are your top three beauty must haves?
Mz. Berry: Bronzer!!! Definitely a must!! I think all women need to have bronzer! My St. Ives Apricot face scrub is so simple and inexpensive and I've used it forever. And I'd have to say a healthy love life for a beautiful glow:(smile)
MVH: In your opinion what is the best trait a woman can have?
Mz. Berry: Wow!! That's a hard one but I think at this moment in my life I'm gonna have to say the best trait a woman can possess would be a gracious attitude. It takes you so far in life and in all of your relationships.
MVH: How do you stay so humble?
Mz. Berry: (laughs) With my family and true friends I have no other choice! They keep me grounded and really focused.
MVH: Who/What makes you smile?
Mz. Berry: (laughs) He does, (laughs again)! (Also) seeing my babies happy and at peace with everything makes me smile.
MVH: Where are your favorite places to shop?
Mz. Berry: I think an easier question would have been where DON'T I like to shop!!! I'm at home easily at any store from Neiman Marcus to H&M to Zara to Forever 21!!! I just love fashion!!
MVH: Finish the sentence. A perfect day for you would be:
Mz. Berry: (Right now) a perfect day for me would be just waking up in my own bed and not having to do anything or go anywhere except maybe to the couch to watch movies all day!!
MVH: What scent are you crazy about right now?
Mz. Berry: I'm strange because I've always loved my oils--Egyptian Musk and China Musk---but I mix them with lotions and scents like Marc Jacobs and I'm even wearing Halle Berry's fragrance and I've gotten alot of compliments lately on that.
MVH: Quick!! You can't leave home without:
Mz. Berry: My Iphone!!
MVH: What's playing on your Ipod right now?
Mz. Berry: Alicia Keys "Element of Freedom" I absolutely love it!!
MVH: What's one thing people don't know about you that they should know?
Mz. Berry: One thing huh...well that I absolutely love Breyer's vanilla ice cream with extra milk added with lots and lots of sprinkles...the rainbow kind!! (Laughs)

'The Hills are Alive with the Sound of Music....'
For anyone who doesn't know I am a big fan of Youtube. I search Youtube for everything from tutorials, hauls and simple entertainment. Recently, while on youtube I came across a breath of fresh air in the form of a young singer named 'Zewdy'. In this day and age of auto-tune singers it was so refreshing to hear an original sound. She has various videos of herself singing some popular songs but she has a way of making them her own. Zewdy definitely has what it takes to make it to the top!!!

Remember to check her out on www.zewdy.com. I promise you will not be disappointed!

Switchin' In the Kitchen...
As a self-proclaimed "foodie" it would be remiss of me not to mention cooking!! As a child I had dreams like many little girls of being a mother and a wife, I wanted to be the 'June Cleaver' type of woman. Upon entering adolescence those dreams had changed quite a bit as I became familiar with women's lib. and there was no way I was going to be 'slaving' over a hot stove every day!! My remedy for that was to be a single woman who sat at home eating chinese take-out every night!
Fast forward a few years ahead and I realized that as a young woman (who loves food) take out every night was NOT going to cut it. I set out on a quest: Learn to Cook!!! I searched high and low for a cookbook that would be a good fit for me and then one day while reading Vibe Vixen (which is no longer in print *tear*) I found just what I was looking for! 'The Get 'Em Girls Guide to Unlocking the Power of Cuisine' by Shakara Bridges. I urge every woman who wants to learn to cook or just add some new recipes to their collection to get this book! You not only get fabulous recipes but tips on wine pairing and stocking your kitchen are also included! Are you a Get 'em Girl?? I AM!!

My dear Marilyn
Marilyn, oh Marilyn!! As you may have read in my 'welcome' message Marilyn Monroe is an inspiration to me. I am like most people attracted to her ability to make elegance seem effortless. I imagine what it must have been like to be her friend, to be her shopping buddy or in this virtual world what it would be like to get an IM from her..lol!
Well one day, while I was out shopping I came across the cutest book all about our girl Marilyn (and get this only $5.00), 'Images of Marilyn Monroe' by Parragon!!!!! My heart swooned as my eyes looked over the cover. I wanted to stand in the store and flip through each page but I resisted the urge because a good find like this deserved more delicate attention. Instead I rushed home, curled up on the couch with a pint of my favorite Haagen Dazs and indulged myself!!! This book not only gives you pics of Marilyn you also get some great background information about her life!!!!
